Bedroom Wall Decor Idea: Wall Panels

Note Design Studio have transformed a 19-century Stockholm office into a home that celebrates pastel colours. Rather than opting for the neutral hues, such as white and grey, that are synonymous with minimal Scandinavian design, Note Design Studio decided to embrace the soft pastel shades of yellow, green, and pink.

The project, called Hidden Tints, sees the transformation of a fashions brand’s head office into a family home. The building’s original period splendour has been maintained and updated with a colour palette that’s based on tones that were already present in the building.

The pastel hues have been applied to the walls and mouldings including the bedroom’s wall decor which features angular paneling that mimics the diagonal lines of the bedroom’s parquet flooring.

Wall panels can also be used to create a modern and natural feel within a bedroom.

Take this example by Studionomad on their project ‘Lom Haijai’. The architecture practice has used dark wooden panels on the bedroom walls to add warmth and colour contrast, plus when paired with the greenery of plants in the room it helps to create an organic and serene feeling within the space.

The abstract mural behind the bed was hand-painted by Calico Wallpaper in response to the client’s brief who asked for a reminder of the lush natural landscape that can be found in Stanley Park in Vancouver, Canada.

The hues in the backdrop match those in a photograph that was presented of the green landscape, and the drips are made from gold-leaf paint that reflects the way golden sun was streaming though the evergreen scene in the photo.

The gold-lead paint has been extended onto the ceiling to create a luminous canopy over the bed that reflects light, whilst the green helps to act a visual headboard to create a richly anchoring piece of art within the bedroom.

Bedroom Wall Decor Idea: Rugs

Rugs aren’t only great accessories for the floor, they can also look beautiful on walls as show in this master bedroom by French-Lebanese gallery Gabriel & Guillaume.

Furthermore, it’s not only paint that can used to create colourful shapes and bold colour blocks. Take this apartment in Kyiv, designed by Special Project Venediktov, who have used an extremely rich, deep shade of green on the walls alongside intentionally contrasting solid colours within the bedroom décor, such as the wall lights and bed sheets.

Another example by Holloway Li in the rooms of UK Bermonds Locke showcases a wall finish that is inspired by the deserts in California, reflecting the tones founds in a sunset in the warm-toned terracotta rugs and bedding, and textured, cloud-filled skies on the walls.
